Devincenzia

Devincenzia is an extinct genus of giant flightless predatory birds in the family Phorusrhacidae, commonly known as "terror birds". Fossils attributed to the genus are known from the Early Miocene (Deseadan) deposits of the Fray Bentos Formation in Uruguay, the Late Miocene (Huayquerian) Ituzaingó Formation, and the Early Pliocene (Montehermosan) deposits of Argentina. It has also been tentatively reported from the Early Pleistocene Raigón Formation of Uruguay. The type species Devincenzia pozzi, was formerly classified as Onactornis pozzi. A particularly large specimen has been estimated to have weighed as much as 350 kilograms (770 lb), making it one of the largest phorusrhacids and carnivorous birds known.
