Conservatoire de Paris

The Conservatoire de Paris, or the Paris Conservatory, is a college of music and dance founded in 1795. Officially known as the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance), it is located on Jean Jaurès avenue in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, France. The Conservatoire offers instruction in music and dance, drawing on the traditions of the 'French School'. It offered instruction in drama prior to 1946, when its drama division was moved into a separate school, the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique. Today, both conservatories operate under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Communication and are associate members of PSL University. The Conservatoire is also associated with the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon.
