Civitavecchia (Italian: [ˌtʃivitaˈvɛkkja], lit. 'Ancient Town'; Latin: Centumcellae, and later, Civitas Vetus) is a city, major sea port and comune (municipality) on the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital in the region of Lazio in Italy, 60 kilometres (37 miles) west-northwest of Rome. It has 51,359 inhabitants. Civitavecchia's harbour is formed by two piers and a breakwater on which stands a lighthouse.
